Frequently asked questions

How long does therapy take?

I offer no time restrictions on how long someone may feel they need to be in therapy. As a psychotherapist I offer open ended sessions that are specifically tailored to an individual’s needs.

How much do you charge?

There is no charge for an initial phone consultation. Thereafter, I charge £70 for a 50 minute session. I have some concessionary rates available for students and those on a low wage.

Where are you based?

I am based in The Therapeutic Rooms, The Courtyard House, 170 Brick Lane, London E1 6RU. The rooms are purpose built for the use of therapy, which means they are quiet, confidential and comfortable. The nearest tube is Liverpool Street, which is approx 10 mins walk. There is also Shoreditch High Street overground station, which is a 5 mins walk.

What happens when you contact me?

I offer a free initial phone consultation. This will help me to find out what you hope to gain from therapy. I will be interested in finding out more about you and what brings you to therapy at this point in your life.

This will also be an opportunity for you to ask me any questions about how I work, or any concerns you may have about psychotherapy and counselling. By the end of the consultation we should be able to decide together the best way forward.

Many people can find the consultation in itself therapeutic, or that it helps them to clarify their situation in a more active way.

If we decide to work together, I offer a more in depth face to face assessment; which provides an opportunity to explore in more detail your family history and key events in your life, as well as what is happening now in your life. We will also consider whether to work in the short or long term and agree a regular time to meet and a fee. Appointments normally take place at the same time each week.

What is the difference between in person and online therapy?

It is really a matter of personal preference. I see clients online, both in the UK and internationally.

My experience of having worked with clients online over a number of years, is that it can provide an effective means of working at depth and supporting real change. In this regard, many of the approaches I use within a face to face context have been successfully adapted to this format.

For others, in person sessions are important, as it allows them a different kind of holding and connection.

I offer both weekly in person and online appointments, or a combination of both. This allows the flexibility to move between working in person and online, as needed. Some clients find this particularly beneficial if their work or personal commitments require them to travel on a regular basis.
